In January, it was one year since Olivia Rodrigo released “Driving License” – the song that changed her life. On the red carpet, the 19-year-old got emotional when she opened her doors the next time.

In an interview with Grammys on the red carpetRodrygo looks back at how quickly – and completely – her life changed after her single boomed around the world.

– The first weeks after the “driver’s license” was issued were some of the wildest of my life, she said.

Rodrigo remembers when she first heard her music after she started taking off.

– Mom was for a walk in the neighborhood and passed a car with a “driving license” flashing out the window. It was totally insane.

– It was one of the most surreal moments of my life. Since then, it’s gotten more and more brutal.

Rodrigo has over 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify, but the mega song has over 1 billion plays. On Instagram and TikTok, Rodrigo has 20 and 13 million followers respectively.

The fact that I am nominated in so many categories is quite surreal. I can’t believe it, says the 19-year-old.

When the 19-year-old was asked why her legs were planted on the ground, the answer was obvious:

– I am so lucky to have the most amazing family and amazing friends. I told people Monday night that they’re all here tonight.

Rodrigo took home three awards during this year’s Grammy Awards – for Newcomer of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album “SOUR” and Pop Solo Performance for “Driving License”.

She competed against big stars like Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Taylor Swift and Silk Sonic.
