Gastronomy, literature or science?  Ideas for an incredible weekend

MAnother weekend has arrived and you don't know how to make the most of it? Don't despair, there are many wonderful activities to fill your days, and fortunately, Lifestyle down to the minute I collected eight suggestions. Among the options you'll find programs ideal for families, avid readers, and even fans of traditional snacks.

1- The 45th Silorico da Pera Cheese Exhibition

Do you like to snack? good news! Between February 16 and 18, from Friday to Sunday, the entertainment returns to the Celorico da Beira, with another edition of this event dedicated to Serra da Estrela cheese. More than 140 exhibitors will participate. Walking tours and tours are also scheduled, as well as concerts by Emmanuel and José Cid.

2- Writing streams

On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, as well as the twenty-fifth anniversary of this literary encounter, freedom and writing, as a means of resistance and struggle, were among the themes highlighted in Correntes d'Escritas. Everything will happen over the next few days, between February 17 and 26, and, as always, in Povoa di Varzim. In all, there are 120 invited authors, from 16 different nationalities, with a focus on Helia Correa and Germano Almeida.

3- Gondomar Pet Festival

Anyone who loves pets they own (and don't own) can attend this event dedicated entirely to them. During the weekend, on February 17 and 18, at the Multiusos de Gondomar, various beauty exhibitions, seminars and conferences are scheduled, as well as animal protection and health activities. There will also be 30 exhibitors offering products and services for dog breeding, cat breeding, birds and exotic animals. A fundraising campaign will also be organized.

4- Environmental education workshop

For children who are more concerned about the environment and who love gardening, on Sunday (February 18), in Mar Shopping, in Matosinhos, there is an activity that teaches how to reuse plastic bottles to create a vertical greenhouse. It is a sustainable solution, which takes up very little space and is sustainable.

5- Natural dyeing workshop

At Biovilla, in Palmilla, you have the opportunity to learn the natural dyeing technique on Saturday mornings. More specifically, the workshop focuses on the shibori technique, but also teaches how to extract natural dyes and how to modify colors in the dyeing process. Once familiarized, all participants are invited to apply different techniques to dye two napkins.

6- Children’s films spread throughout the country

Don't know how to entertain the kids on the weekend? good news! Film sessions for young children are organized until the end of the month in different libraries in Lisbon. The next session will be held at the Marvella Library on Saturday.

7- Haberdashery and crafts exhibition

Do you like spending hours searching for treasures in thrift stores? You can (and should) check out more events like this fair taking place on Sunday in Reguengos de Monsaraz. There you will find, in addition to ancient objects, local handicrafts.

8- Mornings of Science: Fun Plastic

Do you have little scientists at home? You must register them for this workshop at Centro Ciência Viva do Algarve, in Faro. It is scheduled to be held on Saturday to teach young people how to reuse plastic in a really fun way.
