Futsal: A goal with eight seconds left gives Benfica victory in the Elite Round

Benfica beat Dobović 4-3, on Wednesday, in the first of three rounds of Group Two of the elite round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League.

In a match that witnessed the disappearance of two leads, one by two goals and the other by one goal (2-0 and 3-2), the team coached by Mario Silva achieved victory with a goal eight seconds before the end.

In Pristina, Kosovo, where the second group matches were held, Benfica opened the scoring after only 13 seconds, through Diego Nunes. The Reds reached the end of the first half with a 2-0 lead, after Afonso Jesus doubled the difference with a goal in the 12th minute.

In the second half, Dubovic responded, and in less than a minute, he equalized, with goals from Pasariskek and Duscak, respectively, in the 23rd and 24th minutes.

In response, Benfica went back in front two minutes later, at 26, with Gonzalo Sobral scoring to make it 3-2. But the Slovenians responded to the new deficit, with Tseh making it 3-3 after 33 minutes.

The match was decided with just eight seconds remaining in the 40 minutes, as Jacare scored from close range to make it 4-3, giving Benfica the three points.

The first round of Group Two will conclude with the Kirat-Prishtina match scheduled for 7 pm on Wednesday.

In the next round, Thursday, Benfica will face Kirat (4pm). At 7 pm there is Prishtina-Dubović.

The first-place team from each of the four Elite Round groups will advance to the Final Four.

On Thursday, another Portuguese team, Sporting, will take to the field in the first round of Group C (which will be played at home, at Pavelhão João Rocha), facing Loznica (8:30 p.m.).
