The Norwegian, who is accused of desecrating a corpse after his partner was found in the refrigerator, explained in his cross-examination how the woman ended up in the refrigerator.
In March, a Norwegian woman in her 60s was found dead in a freezer in Värmland, Sweden. Since then, the woman’s roommate, a Norwegian in her fifties, has been charged with desecration of a corpse and suspected of murder.
The Norwegian’s defense attorney has confirmed that the dead woman was placed in a freezer on the farm in the fall of 2018. Prosecutor Linda Carlson also stated that the police were operating on the basis that the woman may have been in the refrigerator since then.
The accused admitted to desecrating a corpse but denied killing the woman.
Use the belt
Neither the Swedish police nor the prosecution provided any details about the reason for the desecration charge, and the autopsy report has not been published either.
VG obtained a letter from defender Stefan Liliebäck to the Värmland District Court, dated 14 April. Here it is revealed that the man says that he put the woman in the freezer with the help of A earlyearlyA winch is a lifting device used to pull or lift heavy objects with a rope, cable, or chain..
The letter stated that the accused explained that he had moved the body to the room where the freezer was located, and that he had treated the body “shamefully” by lowering the body into the freezer.
His confession is also supported by the circumstances and the story he told.the message says.
As for VG, Liliebäck says he cannot comment on the contents of the letter, as he is prohibited from discussing the investigation publicly. VG was unable to obtain comment from Attorney General Linda Carlson on Friday.
Imprisonment for another two weeks
The background to the letter to the local court is that Swedish prosecutors have requested another two weeks in the man’s custody – which was granted on Friday.
Lillibac believes that a lengthy investigation of the case seems unnecessary.
– I think the investigation is basically over. What remains is to enable my client to familiarize themselves with the materials of the investigation, and a statement from the judge whether or not he wants further investigation, explains the advocate to VG.
The accused agreed to an additional week of detention, but initially objected to two weeks. Granted, Lillyback says they will not appeal the decision.
– It’s not feeling well. But he got rid of the chains, and he had the opportunity to meet others, go for walks, and talk to people other than me.
The Public Prosecutor of Sweden requested a forensic psychiatric examination of the Norwegian. Lillibak says the accused has no objections to this, and the investigation will take place over the next few weeks.
He will cooperate fully.
The accused Norwegian is said to have been known to both Swedish and Norwegian police before. Among other things, he was convicted of drunk driving and illegal driving. In Norway, he was convicted of rape and indecency.
