Forest fires in Tenerife out of control – NRK Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

In recent days, residents of the region have been able to see huge columns of smoke rising from the jungle in the mountains to the northeast of Tenerife.

Several villages have been evacuated

The fire spread over a steep area.

Several major roads have also been closed.

Firefighting planes and helicopters were also deployed to extinguish the fires.

The fire started around midnight Wednesday. Local media reported that it had been dry and hot in the area in recent days.

The fire is spreading north-east of Tenerife, in the region of Aravu and Candelaria.
