On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Lisbon Academy of Sciences is organizing two symposiums with Portuguese experts who will discuss the contributions of the 2024 Nobel Prize winners. via Zoom in.
The Nobel Prizes in Medicine, Physics and Chemistry will be discussed on Tuesday (October 22). Regarding the Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology, two researchers will delve into the reasons for this award: Cecilia Arrayano (from the Institute of Chemical and Biological Technology of the University of Nova de Lisbon and a member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) and Cecilia Rodriguez (from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon).
He will be followed, for the Nobel Prize in Physics, by Mario Figueredo (of the Instituto Tecnologia Superiore and member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) and João Seixas (also of the Instituto Technologia Polytechnic). Finally, the Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to Maria João Ramos (from the University of Porto and member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) and Carlos Giraldes (from the University of Coimbra and member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences).
Wednesday (October 23) will be a good time to take a look at the Nobel Prizes for Literature, Peace and Economics. José Manuel Méndez (from the Portuguese Writers Association and member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) will speak about the Nobel Prize for Literature.
The Nobel Peace Prize will be analyzed by Viriato Soromeño Márquez (from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon and member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) and Aderito Vicente (from the University of Luciada in Porto). Finally, Susana Peralta (from the Faculty of Economics of the Nova de Lisboa University and member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) and Jorge Braga de Macedo (member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences) will focus on the Nobel Prize in Economics.
