The Dragons started 2022/23 the same way they finished last season, namely winning titles.
FC Porto beat Tondela 3-0 in the Estádio Municipal de Aveiro (which had 28,205 spectators in the stands) and won the 23rd Cândido de Oliveira Supercup in its history.
With England’s Danny Lauder in the starting line-up (who performed well and had plenty of scoring opportunities, and goalkeeper Babacar Niasse always held back), the Blue and White took the lead after the half-hour mark.
After a corner kick captured by Joao Mario, Evanelson won the first place, and in the second, Mehdi Tarimi pushed with his right foot, opening the fight. With this goal, the Iranian international reached an important achievement, reaching his 50th goal in the white and blue shirt.
Soon, in the 33rd minute, Taremi received a pass from Pepe, made a great solo movement and shot with his left foot. The ball, deflected by Perez’s goalkeeper, hit the post, and suddenly Evanelson, faster than anyone else, pushed it into the second.
In the second stage, in the 83rd minute, Taremi scored two goals in the match. With the help of Pepe, the striker passed through the middle of two opponents and, already inside the penalty area, put the ball into the far corner, closing the score 3-0.
With this victory, Sérgio Conceição reached the eighth title in technical leadership for FC Porto, equaling Artur Jorge as the coach with the most titles in Dragons history.
