FC Porto: Sergio Conceicao gives three days off

Sergio Conceicao gave the team three days off after another training session, on Thursday, in Olival, where the group was already very limited, with national team commitments, but also due to physical problems that limited the coach’s options. Therefore, it was no surprise that nine players from Team B were called up for the final training session before the long rest.

With the league suspended, FC Porto will only return to competition on the 24th, Friday, to face Montalegre, at the Estadio do Dragao, in the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup. With the team clearly losing weight, the coach decided to postpone his return to work until next Monday.

In training this morning, the absence of ten international players was already noted: Diogo Costa and João Mario (Portugal); Jorge Sanchez (Mexico); Marko Grujic (Serbia); Eustaquio (Canada); Pepe (Brazil); Mehdi Taremi (Iran); Francisco Conceicao and Bernardo Folha (U21); and Gonzalo Ribeiro (U19).

The clinical report also includes seven other names, all of whom are undergoing treatment for their injuries: Samuel Portugal, Pepe, Marcano, Wendell, Zidou, Ivan Jaime and Gabriel Veron.

Thus, to make up the group, nine players from Team B were called up: Rodrigo Pinheiro, Denis Rodriguez, Roman Correa, Gustavo Lacerda, Joao Mendes, Nilton Varela, Joey Guedes, Abraham Marcos and Findel Silva.

FC Porto therefore returns to action next Monday, with a training session scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in Olival.
