Andre Villas-Boas, the Blue and White's presumptive election candidate, also commemorated the date on Instagram. He wrote, “The teacher passed away 39 years ago, and peace be upon his soul.”
Furthermore, FC Porto is preparing a tribute to Pedroto, with a mural next to the Estádio do Dragão. According to the Porto Supporters newsletter, the work, which is an initiative of the Porto City Council, “should advance in the coming months” and will be the responsibility of “one of the most distinguished Portuguese artists with international recognition.” It will be located at Door 1 of the venue.
As a player, José María Pedroto won two championships and two Portuguese Cups with FC Porto. As a coach, he has two championships, three Portuguese Cups and one Super Cup on his CV in blue and white.
