Experts believe that this may affect the election campaign. But voters fail to see Trump's film in theaters.

“A cheap, defamatory and disgusting attack,” Donald Trump wrote of “The Apprentice.” The audience completely failed the movie.

“A fake movie that lacks sophistication.” Trump writes about “The Apprentice” Social truth.

This happens three days after the film debuted in the US on Friday. She had previously achieved a winning streak in, among others Cannes Film Festival. Trump does not write whether he has seen the film himself.

The film is about how Trump established himself as a real estate mogul in New York in the 1970s and 1980s. The title is the same as Trump's reality show from the 2000s, but it plays more on the relationship Trump has with attorney Roy Cohn.

“The Apprentice” has received a lot of attention, especially since it will be released close to the US elections. Trump has tried to stop the film, including by threatening lawyers.

“It is very sad that human scum, like the people involved in this failed project, are allowed to say whatever they want to hurt the political movement,” Trump wrote.

But the damage is probably not that great, if we believe the numbers.

Voters fail in the movie

Professor Jens Kjeldsen and Asbjorn Gronstad of the University of Bergen told Aftenposten in September that the film would likely influence how voters view and discuss Trump's candidacy.

In this case, the number of debaters will be limited. The film grossed just under $1.6 million in its opening weekend, according to figures released by Box office mojo. This equates to approximately 17 million Norwegian kroner.

According to the report, the film's budget was approximately 170 million Norwegian kroner Forbes.

Trump writes on Truth Social that he hopes the film fails. So, if he doesn't become president a second time, he will at least have fulfilled one wish.

The film is 18 years old, or “R” as it's called in the USA. There is also the same age limit for casting a vote at the ballot box.

The age limit is not unreasonable. One scene in particular drew reactions, including from Trump himself on Monday evening.

The film depicts, among other things, the relationship between Trump and his late ex-wife, Ivana Trump. Trump is angry about the way the film presents the relationship.

Depicts abuse – Trump responds

The film contains a scene showing Trump raping his first wife, Ivana Trump. She died in 2022.

Ivana Trump said so herself when the couple split, but later retracted the claims. She then said that she did not mean “rape” as a criminal act, but that she felt “violated.”

In a post on the Truth Social website, Trump responded strongly to all allegations that he raped his wife.

“My ex-wife Ivana was a kind and gentle person, and we had a good relationship until her death,” he wrote. Trump also wrote that the film's creator, Gabe Sherman, knew about it.

“The frivolous, talentless amateur, long discredited, knew it but chose to ignore it,” he writes.
