Do you want coffee? Nespresso has a completely new variety

a Nespresso has just launched a new Special Reserve coffee: N°20, a brand new variety, 100% exclusive to the brand, “meticulously selected for its flavor and cultivated with the utmost care over 20 years of dedication and pure research,” it can read in the statement.

“By blending two of the finest Arabica coffee varieties, handpicked by the exquisite taste of Nespresso coffee masters, a new range of specialty coffees has been grown in Colombia, 100% exclusively for Nespresso,” explains the brand. The result: a flavor with fresh citrus notes and a hint of orange blossom.

This new Special Reserve coffee, certified Q by the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), which defines the highest quality standards in the coffee industry, is now available on the Original Line for a limited time. To fully enjoy its pure and mild flavour, it should be enjoyed as espresso (40 milliliters).

The origin of N°20 dates back to 2003, “when the first steps were taken in the research and development of what would become the rarest and most exclusive coffee ever.” Inspired by generations of farmers who traditionally cross-bred coffee varieties to produce more resilient botanicals, the Nespresso experts decided to use this natural practice in the search for the perfect taste. For this reason, they evaluated several types of Arabica coffee from around the world to develop a hybrid variety with a unique and rare flavour. They turned to the Coffee Collection Catalog, a living library of coffee plants located on a model farm in Ecuador, the result of years of collecting varieties from around the world, which are protected for posterity.

Once they found the combination that gave rise to the flavor of what would become No. 20, the team began searching for an ideal environment to grow the variety, having progressed with planting pilot farms in three regions: Indonesia, Nicaragua and Colombia. Through a process of trial and error, the latter, more specifically in the Cauca and Caldas regions, have proven to have the perfect soil to ensure the prosperity of the new coffee to be grown here.

With a focus on supporting farmers in the most sustainable way possible, Nespresso has enlisted the help of 59 producers, who, with confidence generated by the AAA Sustainable Quality™ program – which guarantees the best quality and most sustainable coffee, have offered to help the brand reach. in the latest discovery. Under this programme, producers are rewarded for their investment in sustainable high quality.

This trajectory culminates in 2022, when a million trees have already been planted, allowing the production of Nespresso’s most exclusive coffee to date.
