Revel died in Ibiza on Saturday morning after “complications resulting from an accidental head injury,” his family said. The Guardian.
The statement read: “It is with deep sadness that we confirm the sudden death of Jack Revell, known to many as Jackmaster. Jack passed away tragically in Ibiza on the morning of October 12, following complications arising from an accidental head injury. His family – Kate, Sean and Johnny – are completely devastated.”
The document also contains a request from the family: “While deeply moved by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues and fans, the family requests privacy as they cope with the immense pain of this devastating loss.”
Revell was born in Glasgow, Scotland, worked at the famous Rubadub record store in the same city and became one of the founders of the record label Numbers.
He recently released the single Nitro, featuring Kid Enigma, and told music magazine Electronic Groove: “I felt excited and inspired in the club. Unfortunately, such moments are rare these days. Blame it on cell phones and people who don't dance. I'm so grateful to my fans, but I got in Music because I love dancing I think it's a lost art form at this point.
Electronic duo Disclosure were among those to pay tribute to the incident, writing on Instagram: “I can't believe this. Broken heart. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and inspiration Jack. This is terrible, terrible, terrible.”
A post from the duo's official Instagram account DU CamelPhat on Revill's Instagram page read: “I can't believe what I'm reading… In an industry full of egos, you are without a doubt one of the nicest guys we've met over the years.” Our thoughts are with family and friends.
