Disappointing report: the policeman himself is afraid of the police

This is confirmed by a recent report. He describes widespread bullying, racist attitudes and “deep-rooted homophobia”.

The report paints a picture of the “boys’ club” that fails the city’s residents, especially women and children.

The investigation report commissioned by Scotland Yard was released in 2021 after a police officer abused his position to abduct, rape and murder Sarah Everard.

The report states that sexism in the police is so pervasive that police officers did not hide it even when the investigation team visited them. The team noted that the women were spoken to with annoyance and had their input rejected.

In the combined area of Arms Command, a poster of a photoshopped image of female weapons officers holding mops, irons and kettles instead of guns was hung.

Do not trust your colleagues

The review concluded that the women were subjected to unwanted sexual attention from the start of their careers. A third of the women surveyed reported that they had personally experienced sexual discrimination at work.

12 percent of them have experienced sexual harassment or abuse. A woman who was sexually assaulted on several occasions by her boss said he masturbated in front of her in a shared restroom, he writes times.

The culture of bullying in the London police meant that even police officers did not dare trust their colleagues in incidents involving family and close friends.

A homophobic bullied gay police officer said he was afraid of the police and distrusted his organization. He added that he changed the route he took when he was not at work to avoid running over colleagues who were at work.

devastating evidence

The report stated that the sexual crimes unit used broken refrigerators and freezers to store rape tools. A lunchbox was found in the same refrigerator as the rape samples, which would contaminate the evidence.

Refrigerators were so full that three people were needed to close the doors, The Times writes, suggesting a refrigerator collapsed during a heatwave in 2022. This destroyed all evidence in it and a number of alleged people. The rape cases were dismissed.

Minorities are the most affected

The report states that the citizens of London have been let down and that the city no longer has a functioning police service in its boroughs.

The problem is most acute for ethnic minorities, and the report warns that these neighborhoods are over-politicized and under-protected.

It also appears from the report that the leadership in the organization has been in denial for several decades and that there has been a systemic failure to eradicate discriminatory behavior and bullying.

Embarrassing and frustrating

The Chief of the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, has apologized to Londoners.

“It’s awful. You sit down and read the report, and it generates a range of emotions, like anger, frustration, embarrassment.”

Rowley told Sky News he accepted the report’s findings, but would not use the term “institutional racist” to describe the police force.

“We have a real problem here. We have misogyny, homophobia and racism in the organization. We are determined to achieve the required transformation.”

Sunak: – Significant damage

Louise Casey, who led the investigation team, which spent a year investigating Britain’s largest police force, concluded that the London police force needed an “overhaul” and might need to be dismantled.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says work is already underway in the police force to restore people’s trust. Sunak told BBC Breakfast the police chief is committed to change.

When asked if he would tell his daughters to trust the police, the prime minister replied:

– I want the answer to this question to be “yes”, and at the moment trust in the police has been greatly damaged.
