A new painting of the player was displayed on Sunday on the walls of El Torito, the club where he kicked the ball for the first time.

The new mural in honor of Angel Di María was inaugurated on Sunday, on the wall of the club where he was born, El Torito, north of Rosario. The painting has been restored in recent months, having been the target of an act of vandalism last May, when the Benfica winger's eventual return to Rosario Central was mooted.

The work was shown during the 29th Rosario Latin American Film Festival, where hundreds of children gathered at the club.

The designer and creator of the murals, Gabriel Griva, shared a series of photos on his Instagram account with the result of his work: “A mural in honor of the world champion, video, Angel, the angel, the player with the important goals. The person who taught us that we should never give up, and that eventually, with a lot of effort, dedication, professionalism and passion, the wall can be broken down.

Two suspects arrested for organizing threats against Di Maria

The previous mural, located in the club where Video took his first steps in football when he was still a child, was vandalized with black paint and spray paint, following Rosario Central's elimination in the Copa Libertadores.

The threat to Di Maria's family last March, with letters on the entrance to his house and a pig's head with a bullet, made the player hesitate to return to his hometown, which ended up renewing his contract with Benfica for more than one season.
