Dengue in Minas: deaths increased by more than 500% compared to 2022 – Gerais

In one week, seven people died of dengue fever in Minas Gerais. As of Monday (5/29), there have been 103 deaths recorded in the state. The data represents an increase of 543.7% compared to the same period in 2022, when, until the last week of last May, the disease claimed 16 lives.

The last recorded deaths occurred in eight municipalities in Minas Gerais: Albinopolis, Manhuaçu, Matebo, Oliveira, Patos de Minas, Patrosinho, São João do Mantinha, and São Sebastião do Paraiso. Uberlandia is the city with the highest death rate, with ten deaths since the start of the year.

Four cities recorded their first deaths from dengue fever: Albinopolis, Oliveira, Patrocinho and São Sebastião da Manteña. In addition, two records were removed from the list issued by the Minas government, one death in Divinópolis and one in Uberlandia. a Minas state SES-MG has sought, but as of this article’s publication has not received a response.

In all, 182,562 cases of dengue have been confirmed in Minas. Another 172,993 are being treated as probable cases and still need to be confirmed through lab tests.

Belo Horizonte

The Belo Horizonte Municipal Health Department reported Friday (26/5) that 5,531 cases of the disease have already been confirmed, and another 14,367 findings are being investigated. The report on the disease in the city is published weekly.

How to protect yourself from sexually transmitted viruses:

  • Pack trash in a plastic bag and keep it in a covered trash can until the day and time for collection by Urban Cleaning Service;

  • keep the backyard always clean and free of any material that could accumulate the slightest amount of water and become a focus of Aedes aegypti;
  • using repellents that contain icaridin as a compound, an ingredient that repels vector mosquitoes more effectively;
  • Keep cribs and cribs covered with screens.
