Deco Proteste has challenged the price update of Via Verde, the new tariff that provides for 50% increases in subscriptions that integrate regular services and remove the possibility of obtaining an ID, accusing Via Verde of “hiding” the new tariff “in an alleged restructuring of the offer”.
In a statement, the consumer watchdog said Brisa Group “has not, after all, added a service in relation to what it has already offered,” so, from January 5, “consumers will pay significantly more for the same set of services they already have.”
According to Deco, the company’s declared commercial practice “subjects customers to increments of up to 50%, well above expectations of 3% inflation, to maintain access to services they have already contracted with the operator, which can only be protected by The unfortunate fact that there is no competition threatens Via Verde’s absolute dominance in this market.”
Deco also criticizes Via Verde’s decision to stop selling IDs, “forcing potential customers to associate with signatures they don’t want and which, in many cases, ends up being more expensive for motorway users”.
The organization fears that existing ID owners will end up when devices need a new battery, and are given no choice but to sign up for a subscription.
From January 5, Via Verde will discontinue subscription packages sold under the “Via Verde Livre” and “Via Verde Leve” names, and will start marketing the new subscription modes “at significantly higher prices than their predecessors and, in some cases, with less connected services”, he confirms. .
Via Verde will contact all subscription customers and inform them that from January 5th they will be automatically transferred to the new offer, with the same set of services previously available, but with an “adjustment” in the price,” noting that this transition “only occurs if expressed The customer expresses his opposition in writing within ten working days after receiving the informational communication from Via Verde, which results in the termination of the contract linking him to the operator.”
After moving to the new offer, Deco explains, “Via Verde is given a transition period, until March 31, 2022, during which price increases will not be charged to customers.” Thus, as of April 1st only, new subscriptions will, definitively, be subject to a pricing update.
During this transition period, “customers can also choose to subscribe to another subscription package out of the three available on the new Via Verde offer,” he explains.
