David Simão’s career could have gone through Braga. The 32-year-old midfielder revealed, on Monday evening, on Channel 11, that he was close to signing with Arsenal at a certain stage in his career, taking the opportunity to thank his representative, Carlos Gonçalves, from ProEleven, for his management.

“At the time of Boavista, it was so close that I didn’t sign with Sp. Braga. It didn’t happen because the team was wide, then there was a Europa League match that was removed and it didn’t happen. I spoke with the president Antonio Salvador, he showed intention to hire in the year Next, but … unfortunately, Sep Braga was left out and because they already had five midfielders, for domestic competitions, that was enough,” revealed the Portuguese, who spoke of his team’s near future – his contract at last – confirmed an approach from Arouca. To renew: “Arouca’s officials have already expressed their intention to continue. Now I’m focused on finishing the year well, I’m happy with what I’ve been doing and I know that the last picture is very important in football.”

David Simao was also asked about his friendship with Ruben Amorim, who confirmed that he was not affected by the last meeting between the two, which will be repeated in this next round of Liga Bwin, when Arauca visits Alvalade. “I’m a very good friend of Ruben Amorim. There was an argument with him in the League Cup semi-final, but that’s a football thing. He defends his colors and I have it,” he said, later offering his insights on one of my more blunt teammates: “Sila is a great player. From what I understand there are many interested parties and I have my doubts that he will be my teammate again next season.”
