Next Sunday (10 October) Fuzilla will host the “Outubro Rosa” march organized by the regional nucleus of the Portuguese League Against Cancer Center (LPCC).
This initiative is being implemented throughout the Centro region with the aim of raising awareness for the prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer.
The walk is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. and can be done individually or in small groups, without a set date or route. Participation means complying with all health authorities’ guidelines, recommending the use of a mask, hand disinfection, and physical distance.
Participants must gather at the Alameda D. Duarte de Almeida, where information and outreach materials related to the project will be presented. Runners must also wear a pink dress.
Breast cancer, if diagnosed and treated early, has a cure rate of over 90 percent. It is estimated that in 2020, in our country, more than 7,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer, and 1,800 women died. 1 in 100 men develop breast cancer.
The march is part of the International Month for Breast Cancer Prevention.
