Carlos Carvalhal: “Iago Aspas is the best player I’ve ever coached” – Celta de Vigo

On Saturday, Celta de Vigo achieved its second victory in its last four matches in the Spanish League, by defeating Rayo Vallecano 2-0 at home.

At the end of the match, Carlos Carvalhal praised the collective behavior of the team as well as the individual performance of Lago Aspas, the experienced Spanish striker, who scored two goals in the match.

“We started strong, we were able to score and change the game. This is football, there are moments that can change everything. Our defensive operation was very balanced, against a very strong Rayo. Then the game was balanced. In the second half we changed Seferovic and Iago Aspas and opened Spaces. Iago is different. We were a real team,” he began with the words of the Portuguese coach, in remarks reported by the Spanish newspaper “Marca”.

“We are a very balanced team, we know how to attack but also to defend and that is very important in this league. But there is no idea or plan if there are no players who follow it and implement it. Personality and attitude are linked with the game process which manifests later in the games. We are in a process of evolution , to improve things. Teams can always improve.”
