Cardiff want €100m from Nantes in compensation following the death of Emiliano Sala in flight in connection with his transfer to Cardiff in 2019.
The uproar that followed Sala’s death did not appear to be over. After several years of legal wrangling, Cardiff were ordered in January to pay Nantes six million euros (69 million kronor) as the first part of a transfer fee totaling €17 million, the equivalent of 196 million kroner.
The dispute largely revolves around Cardiff’s belief that the transfer was never completed before the small plane in which Sala was flying to Wales from Nantes crashed in January 2019. Both Sala and pilot David Ibbotson, and thus the man, died. Who organized the trip that ended in a crash and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
