Senior Democrats are said to have asked Biden to resign.

Meanwhile, there are many indications that pressure on Biden continues to mount. News letters Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer reportedly should have asked Biden to withdraw from the campaign.

It must have happened at a Saturday meeting.

Schumer reportedly told Biden it was better for the country and the Democratic Party if he withdrew his nomination.

House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries is said to have expressed similar views directly to Biden, a source with knowledge of the conversation told ABC News.

But Schumer's office issued a statement calling the allegations “wild speculation,” Reuters reported.

The office also says Schumer expressed the views of Democrats he directly represents to President Biden. It’s not clear what those views were.
