Benfica: Six players leave the training camp without playing a minute

Benfica returns to Lisbon on Sunday, after completing its pre-season training camp in England, with six players still coming off their first-ever season: goalkeepers Leo Kokubu and Marcel Mendes, as well as midfielders Thiago Dantas, Mette, Paulo Bernardo and Martim Neto. They were not entitled to a single minute in the two friendlies already played.

They are joined by Andre Gomez, Otamendi and Henrique Araujo, who were injured and therefore not included in these accounts.

And so Roger Schmidt used 25 players in the victory over Southampton and Basel, with only three starts in the two matches: midfielder Morato, midfielder Coccu and striker Rafa.

Remember, Di Maria and Jurassic arrived later, so they only ended up in one match.
