Two years after assuming the technical leadership of the Benfica women’s team, Pedro Henriques announced, Sunday, that he had left his position at the Lisbon club, on his own initiative, as detailed in a post on the social network Facebook.

“Today my relationship with Benfica came to an end on my own initiative. It was without a doubt one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced in my career, with great achievements and some adversities, which are normal things. The greatness of the club and its supporters deserve it,” the 45-year-old coach wrote. My loyalty. I leave feeling like I fought to exhaustion. I am very grateful for the opportunity.”

Pedro Henrique stopped his duties as Benfica finished first in the Women’s Division I classification with 37 points in 13 rounds. Recently, the Eagles crushed 6-0 at the Arneiros stronghold.

Between 2019 and 2021, the Portuguese coach added a national championship, a League Cup, a Portuguese Cup and two Super Cups to the list.
