Benfica accelerates negotiations with Boavista for Pedro Malheiro

Benfica have accelerated talks with Boavista to sign Pedro Malheiro, according to a report More footballwas available to pay between two and three million euros for the right-back.

In principle, the checkered logo will be available for sale in January 2024, preferably for more than three million euros, and this sale could be Pedro Malheiro specifically. But in this case, Boavista wants to keep part of the player’s pass, who has a contract valid until June 2025.

The name of Malheiro, 22, has been well mentioned behind the scenes at Luz since last season – information about the start of negotiations with the Eagles was initially published in the newspaper O Jogo.

However, as was possible to find out, Benfica is not the only club that wants the young right-back: Braga have also expressed their interest in Pedro Malheiro, and may move forward with more concrete negotiations soon.

Signing a right-back for the rest of the current season is one of Roger Schmidt’s priorities, who, at this stage, only has one home-grown athlete in that position: Alexandre Bah. All other options are modifications: Frederic Orsnes, Joao Neves and Joao Victor.

Pedro Malheiro was born in Villa Verde, and split his training between Villaverdense, SP Braga and Palmeiras, all clubs from Minho. At the age of sixteen, he joined Boavista, the club where he completed his training and became a professional. The full-back, who turns 23 in January, spent seven seasons at Besa, interrupted only by a half-season loan to Villaverdines.

Agustin Guillay, who belongs to San Lorenzo, from Argentina, is another name that Benfica likes. The 19-year-old Argentine right-back has been monitored by red scouts for several months.
