The centre-back is on loan and is training at Sporting until June 30, with the option to extend for another season
German club Bayern Munich announced today, Thursday, on its website, that it has obtained a loan for Tottenham midfielder, Eric Dier, a football player who trained at Sporting Lisbon, until June 30, 2024, with the option to extend for another season.
“This move is a dream come true for me, because when we were kids, we wanted to play for a team like Bayern one day. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has an amazing history. I want to help the team.” Speaking to the German club's website, Eric Dier said: “Thanks to my defensive versatility.”
Meanwhile, Tottenham also announced Dier's transfer via their website: “We have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to loan Eric Dier until the end of the season, with a final purchase option.”
Eric Dier's contract with Tottenham expires at the end of the current season, and although the two clubs did not reveal the amounts involved, the English sports press reported that an agreement worth about four million euros had been reached.
It must be remembered that Eric Dier, whose family came to live in Portugal when he was still a child, trained at Sporting Club, a club in which he went through various levels until he reached the main team, which was launched by coach Jesualdo Ferreira in August 2012.
He returned to England in the 2014/15 season to join Tottenham, with whom he played 365 official matches and scored 13 goals, after becoming an international player with the main England national team in 2015, where he has played 49 matches so far and scored three goals. He participated in two World Cups (2018 and 2022) and one European Championship (2016).
