Michelle Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, has died, the family said in a statement statement.
Robinson lived to be 86 years old.
“She slept peacefully this morning, and now none of us are quite sure how we will continue without her,” a statement from the family said. NBC News.
The statement was signed by Michelle and Barack Obama, Craig Robinson and his wife, Kelly, and Marian Robinson's grandchildren, Avery, Leslie, Malia, Sasha, Austin and Aaron.
Robinson moved to Washington, D.C., to help care for her grandchildren in the White House when Obama became president in 2008.
She has kept a low profile, but has participated in holiday events and some trips abroad. But most often she was with her grandchildren, Sasha and Malia, NBC wrote.
On Channel X, Michelle Obama shares the family's statement and adds the following message:
– My mother, Marian Robinson, was my rock, always there for everything I needed. She was the same steadfast supporter of our entire family and it is with great sadness that we announce her passing today.
