A clear and expressive victory for Vitoria de Guimarães over the Pacos de Ferreira, but no one thought it was a Victorian picnic. The Beavers started better and the first goal came against the tide, in a penalty kick around by Thiago Silva to penalize Maracas’ shortage of Bruno Duarte.
Paços de Ferreira tried to react immediately, creating some dangerous situations but it would be Vitória de Guimarães to extend the result, with Bruno Duarte heading into a good cross from Rafa Soares.
In the second half, Helder Malhero spoiled the show and Vitoria de Guimarães built the defeat. The referee realized that Luis Carlos cut an arm kick (which is acceptable) but Andre Ferreira saved Andre Almeida’s shot and Bruno Duarte scored on the counter, but the Brazilian striker was well inside the area when the penalty kick was taken (he should have had it repeated).
Near the end, the referee signaled another penalty kick, when the ball went to the arm of Oelton, who had his back to play. Ruben Lamiras finished the scoring in the face of Bassine’s indignation.
With this win, Guimarães’ men cemented the sixth place in the rankings with 42 points, and are close to Gil Vicente. Pacos de Ferreira remained in seventh place with 36 points.
