Palmeiras officially announced on Wednesday the signing of defender Murillo from Lokomotiv Moscow. The 24-year-old has signed a contract with the club coached by Abel Ferreira for five seasons, until the end of 2026.
“I was very happy when the proposal arrived. I accepted it immediately and wanted to come to Sao Paulo as soon as possible to join my teammates,” he said. “I already knew the structure of the club and I am happy to have all this at my disposal. I am sure I made the right decision when I came to Verdau.”
Murillo started with Cruzeiro and left in 2017 for Russian football, and is now back in Brazil, paying tribute to the Portuguese coach’s squad: “I watched several recent Palmeiras matches, I really understood the intensity of the game and I like this style of play. I am sure I will adapt. Quick and I will respond on the field to whatever the coach asks for, he said.
These are the fifth reinforcements for Apple Ferreira after goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba, midfielders Atoista and Gelson and striker Rafael Navarro. According to Brazilian newspapers, the deal will be concluded for 2.2 million euros, covering 80 percent of economic rights.
