For many decades, National Basketball fans or simply NBA fans have been dreaming of being the first Portuguese player in the best league in the world. Nemeas Quetta, 22, will start the 2021/22 season as part of the Kings squad, as was officially confirmed yesterday when Sacramento presented their NBA squad. (look here).
In it, limited to 15 players, the Portuguese pole, who weighs 2.11 meters and 112 kilograms, takes advantage of the fact that the league admits that the squad is expanding to 17 elements, as long as the additional players have a two-way contract. Bond that allows these basketball players to be used simultaneously for training and games, both in the NBA and in the First Division, where the club owns Stockton Kings.
Well, it’s an agreement the Kings signed with the former Barreirense and Benfica squad player, who has been in the last three seasons at Utah State University and, in July, was named 39th of the draft.
It’s a one-year contract worth $463,000 (€399,000), but it’s only guaranteed until the end of the season starting January 20. If Sacramento wants to renew it for 2022/23, it will have to pay 1.576 million (€1.359 million).
