Ball - Abel admits to leaving due to violence: "I will think carefully" (Brazil)

The recent violence in South American football caused Abel Ferreira to erupt in force after Palmeiras’ victory over Guarani (2-0). The Portuguese coach asked the authorities to intervene, and even admitted that he was considering leaving Brazil.

“It is necessary to take action. Words, the wind takes it. This worries me a lot. When I came here and saw the pictures in Mexico and they told me that the same is happening in Brazil, I will think carefully about what I want for my family, for myself and the players,” he said.

Abel was speaking the day after the violent clashes between fans that took place during the match in Mexico between Queretaro and Atlas de Guadalajara, but also before the death of an Atlético Mineiro-Cruzeiro fan due to disrespect.

Very dangerous things happen in football in South America. People should come forward, clubs and these people should be punished. How many people must die for the authorities to make their decisions? Bodies, whether soccer or non-football, must show their faces, and rehearse the postures they have. They have to justify their position. When I don’t win, they ask me to take responsibility. It’s what I expect everyone to do, take responsibility. For the good of Brazilian football and for all of us. Let the Brazilian Football Confederation join, to join those who organize state championships, the Public Prosecution Office, but let the measures be taken,” he said.
