Argentine authorities are investigating two women who were in Liam Payne's room hours before his death.
In a statement reported by “Page Six,” the police said that they interrogated five people, including two women – whose identities were not identified – and three hotel employees.
According to authorities, the two women were with the musician in his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. However, at the time of the incident, they were not present at the hotel.
The authorities also explain that these investigations aim to determine whether there was “interference by third parties” in the moments before Liam Payne’s death.
They also noted that “everything indicates that the musician was alone when the fall occurred, during a manic episode caused by the use of illicit substances.”
“Given the position in which his body was found, and given the injuries in which he was found, it is assumed that Payne did not spontaneously assume a defensive posture,” they said, explaining that the musician was “in a semi-unconscious or completely unconscious state.”
Several items were found in the hotel room indicating that Payne had consumed alcohol and drugs prior to the accident.
