In recent days, Andrew Tate has been known to argue with Greta Thunberg on social media.
For others, he has long been known to promote a hyper-masculine lifestyle on the Internet.
Some see him as a role model, while others believe he is the king of toxic masculinity and the more dangerous TikTok phenomenon.
Now he has been arrested by the Romanian police.
Four people arrested
Romanian police published a press release Thursday evening websites.
It says four men, two of them British, were arrested on Thursday in connection with an investigation relating to, among other things, human trafficking and rape.
It will be the Directorate of Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism that was behind the investigation and arrests.
– It was said that the two Britons tried to deceive the victims into believing that romantic feelings were involved and that a potential marriage was on the horizon. The police wrote in a press release that they were later taken to a house in Lvov County where they were held against their will.
And the police wrote in another press release about possible misdeeds committed against the women. There should be six women in all.
Neither Andrew nor Tristan are named in the press release. They will be held for 24 hours.
Several Romanian media also reported that the brothers’ villa had been searched earlier in the day.
The irony of Thunberg
Earlier this week, Tate came out against climate activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter. He recently reopened his Twitter account after Elon Musk took over the company.
In Tate’s tweet, he flaunts his fancy car and addresses Thunberg.
He writes, among other things, “Hi Greta Thunberg. I have 33 cars,” and refers to the size of the large engines some of his luxury cars have.
Thunberg responded by mocking Tate with a response that garnered twice the number of views.
She also posted a tweet after Tate’s arrest Thursday night. In the tweet, she commented on one of the speculations surrounding Tate’s arrest.
The Swedish newspaper aftonbladet He writes that there is speculation as to whether the pizza box from one of Tate’s videos might be important to the arrest.
Long investigation
In recent years, Tate has lived in Romania with his brother.
In April this year, the Romanian police searched their villa after receiving a report that a woman was being held in the house against her will. They were also suspected of committing rape.
Tate denied the allegations but has since been under investigation.
He himself said that he did not want to live in Western countries, in part because of the mito movement. The statement came in a video he posted on his private YouTube channel, which has now been removed.
On August 19 this year, he was banned from both Facebook and Instagram – shortly after that YouTube and TikTok followed as well.
