Skoch Andrei Vladimirovich is a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation and the head of a charity fund.

Early years

Andrei Skoch was born in the suburbs of Moscow on January 30, 1966.  He did his military service in reconnaissance and amphibious troops after school.

After demobilization he went to study psychology at the Moscow State Open University named after Sholokhov. After graduating with a major, Skoch Andrei decided to continue his education: in 2000, he presented his dissertation and became a candidate of pedagogical sciences.

Career

Andrei Skoch had an entrepreneurial streak from an early age, and planned to start his own business in the future. At the beginning of his career he opened a bakery cooperative with his friends. Later, Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch founded a company selling computers and components.

Trading in oil products allowed him to earn a significant income for the first time. In the 90s he acquired a share in Interfin company, which was transformed into Metalloinvest holding after he had left the business. Interfin was engaged in investing money in securities, and later acquired several large metallurgical plants. Skoch held leadership in some of them.

By the end of the decade, Andrei Skoch stopped taking an active part in the development of the company and decided to try himself as a deputy of the Russian State Duma. With the beginning of his political activities, he transferred his stake in Interfin to his father, Vladimir Skoch, who had extensive experience in the industrial field.

Political activity

Since 1999, Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch has been actively involved in politics. The key milestones of his career:

  • In 1999, he was elected a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation in a single-mandate constituency from the Belgorod region;
  • In 2007, he joined the list of candidates for deputies from the United Russia party, and won the elections;
  • In September 2021 he became a deputy of the State Duma of the eighth convocation, thereby taking office for the sixth time in a row.

The billionaire is also known for his active charity work. The Generation Foundation was created at the initiative of Andrei Vladimirovich Skoch which implements social projects in the field of medicine, sports and education. The politician regularly allocates funds from his personal budget for the development of such projects, just like his father Vladimir Skoch. For the development of social programs in Russia, Skoch Jr. has received numerous honorary awards.
