The coroner revealed that the deaths at Travis Scott’s concert at the Astroworld Festival were due to accidental suffocation.
The victims were said to be trapped as thousands of fans ran towards the theatre. Witnesses said they fell to the ground and trampled underfoot.
The autopsy findings may determine the direction of the criminal investigation into the tragedy, which has raised questions about crowd control and security at major events.
The ages of the 10 dead ranged from nine to 27 years old.
Another 300 people were injured out of the 50,000 people present at the site.
Travis Scott says he didn’t notice the deaths
Rapper Travis Scott gave his first interview after a tragedy at the Astroworld Festival in which 10 people died during the artist’s concert.
“I didn’t know the exact details until minutes before the press conference (after the party),” he said in an interview with Charlemagne’s YouTube channel.
Travis Scott boycotted the concert twice, once to call security to help a fan who passed out, but claimed that the noise of fireworks on stage made it impossible to tell what was going on.
The artist claims that he did not hear the public’s requests for help.
Investigations were opened into the causes of death and the complaint that a person had injected drugs into persons. There are also investigations into security barriers and people control.
