Two American tourists were found asleep Monday morning after a rough night in a Paris town. Their chosen residence? high on the Eiffel Tower.
The uninvited guests were woken up by security guards early Monday morning when they checked the tower before the doors opened at 9.
At 10.40pm on a Sunday, the Americans bought tickets like everyone else, but slipped through a few roadblocks on the way down. It was found in a location not normally open to the public, between the second and third floors of the world-famous tower.
They posed no apparent threat, says Sete, which operates the tower.
Prosecutors in the French capital say the two guests who spent the night “appear to have been stuck because they were very drunk”.
Firefighters and rescue specialists have been dispatched to the tower to retrieve the two tourists, who were taken in for questioning. The expulsion of the non-Orthodox guests delayed the opening of the tower by about an hour.
