Amazon Tech Tower will provide science, technology and education services in 2023

Since the beginning of this week, anyone passing by Rua Arcipreste Manoel Teodoro, near Praça da República, in Belém, can already see a new appearance emerging in the old building of the Secretariat of Science, Technology, Higher, Vocational and Technological Education. The exterior wall of the building receives graffiti work with figures and logos referring to the guidelines worked by the Sectet. The new painting of the building and everything that will be developed in it will be shown at the event scheduled for January 7th. The place is being prepared to become a space for providing services to the public as of February 2023.

“With the increase in the various activities carried out by the Sectet, such as the Forma Pará Programme, the procedures and rooms in Usinas da Paz, Carretas da Paz, as well as the policy of supporting start-ups, among many others, the need for the Secretariat to have an environment to provide services in the field of Science and technology. It is what we call the Science and Technology Tower, the Amazon Tech Tower. The idea is that the unified space of many services that will be available to the community, ”explains the head of the cult, Edilza Fontes.

It also says that the Amazon Tech Tower will have rooms for basic and advanced computer classes, including courses that will help its users better move up in the job market, such as graphic design. In addition, the Amazon Maker project will offer lessons in robotics, modeling and 3D printing, among others, as is already the case in Usinas da Paz and in the Technical Education Schools of the State of Pará (Eetepas). There will also be a room dedicated to digital mapping with geoprocessing lessons.

Digital tourism will also have space in the “Tower”. Visitors will be able to access a tour Virtual by the Integrated System of Museums and Memorials of the Secretary of State for Culture (Secult). a a tripIt was launched in March 2022, the result of a partnership between Sectet, Secult and Science and Technology Park (PCT) Guamá. a a trip Virtualization is part of the government’s inclusion policy, which aims to expand, democratize and decentralize access to public equipment and collections, both physical and virtual.

The building will also house a co-working space where startups and other nine startups of the StartUp Pará program will have an environment to develop their work and hold their meetings. At first, they will be exempt from paying for the rental of the place. StartUp Pará aims to help develop innovative technology-based ideas and companies. Sectet has already invested nearly R$11 million in the programme.

Another program that will have a floor in the tower is Forma Pará. Forma Pará launched in 2019, closed in 2022 reaching 144 Pará municipalities with at least one higher education course offer. In this way, the year 2023 will be devoted to the pedagogical follow-up of the ongoing classes, the beginning of the program’s graduate classes and extension projects. The space at Amazon Tech will house the program team, which typically holds meetings and receives representatives from town halls and partner higher education institutions.

In the tower, high school students will have a face-to-face center of the Enem Pará digital platform, a platform that provides classes, exercises, simulations and monitoring for students who will take the National Secondary School Examination (Enem). There will be a class with teachers from all disciplines attending to answer students’ questions.

The building will also contain a hall for rotating events. “In the hall we plan to hold big meetings and plan something we call ‘Coffee with Science and Technology’ where we invite great researchers, and we’ll record Podcasts And we will be announcing several Sectet-funded research projects,” highlights Secretary Edilza Fontes. Amazon Tech Tower is expected to open on January 31, 2023.
