Alice Napier Learning Center celebrates Science Week

The Center for Educational Alice Napiero (CEAN) in Campo Mayor held Science Week from June 3 to 7. Science, technology and the environment were the topics covered in an interesting and diverse agenda.

Partner support was essential to the success of the week. Among them, the Municipality of Campo Mayor, Delta Café, Adeja Mayor, Loja Continente Bom Día de Campo Mayor, Centro Ciencia Viva de Estremoz, and the Campo Mayor Group of Schools stood out.

In this edition, the Center took the robots and their research projects to the Continente Bom Dia store in Campo Mayor, where students organized exhibitions, lectures and workshops for the general public.

On World Environment Day, 5th June, the 16th Green Flag of the Eco-Schools Program was raised and a session/gathering on Neuroeducation and Pathways to the Future was held.

The week included activities at the Novadelta plant with employees. Recycling, waste, circular economy and safety at work were some of the topics covered, and CEAN icon, Luzinha, was present as well as all the ATL students.

In partnership with Adega Mayor, bat shelters were installed in the vineyard, protected by oak trees. This project was developed several years ago by building and assembling shelters in the areas surrounding the winery, thus following the principles of environmental sustainability.

On June 6, the center received wooden wine crates for reuse, in which “insect hotels” will be created.

It is also worth noting that on June 7, the CentroCiência Viva de Estremoz was present with two workshops, one dedicated to renewable energy and the other to pollinators and flowers.

The week ended with a healthy fruit-based outing, thanks to an offer of 8kg of blueberries provided by Vilar da Monteirinha, based in Sonem, Valpacos Municipality.
