American actor Alec Baldwin said, today, he did not press the button to fire the gun that killed film director Halina Hutchins while filming “Rust” in October, a film he is also a producer.
“Trigger [da arma] “I didn’t pull… I didn’t pull the trigger,” the actor said in the first official interview given to ABC Television, which will be released in full on Thursday, to report on the October 21 drama.
In this interview, Baldwin says he has “no idea” how live ammunition will look in the footage: “I would never pull the trigger of a gun when I’m pointing at someone. Never,” he emphasized. “Someone fired a real bullet where it shouldn’t be and I have no idea who it was,” he said, without explaining how the gun would have been fired had the trigger not been pulled, he claims.
An investigation into the incident did not lead to any arrests, and responsibilities for Hutchins’ death have not been established.
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the gunsmith responsible for firearms during filming, told authorities they had no idea how live ammunition would be placed there, as it is officially banned under US film industry rules.
The fatal victim was identified as 42-year-old Halina Hutchins, and the shot also wounded film director Joel Sousa, 48, who was admitted to the intensive care unit at Christos St. Vincent Medical Center outside Santa Fe, in the southwestern state of New Mexico. United.
On the same day, the actor appeared to the public on the social network Twitter, saying that he felt “devastated” by what happened.
