HeyOn Friday, the four members of ABBA were awarded the Royal Order of Vasa, one of Sweden's most prestigious titles that has not been bestowed on anyone in 50 years, since 1974.

According to the Reuters news agency, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad joined together to receive the Vasa Medal in Stockholm, receiving the title of “Conductor First Class” of the order for “exceptional efforts in Swedish and international musical life.”

King Carlos Gustavo honored the Swedish band at the Royal Palace, where Queen Silvia was also present.

The Queen said: “The request you receive today is Sweden’s thanks for your exceptional efforts.”

The award came 50 years after ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with the song “Waterloo”, which was the most successful band in the history of the Eurovision Song Contest.
