Regular consumption of fruit juice, known for its richness in nutrients and absence of artificial sugars, can have a decisive impact in the battle against high blood pressure.

This is the conclusion of a study conducted by the famous University of Toronto, in Canada. High blood pressure, or as it is more widely known, high blood pressure, is a silent condition that can cause serious health problems if not properly diagnosed and treated.

Potential risks include strokes, heart attacks and heart failure. Certain factors, such as poor diet, stress, and an unhealthy lifestyle, can increase the likelihood of developing this condition.

Usually, doctors recommend making changes to the patient’s lifestyle. This includes a reduction in salt and alcohol intake. In addition to following a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, and increasing regular physical activity.

The role of fruit juice in combating high blood pressure

A University of Toronto study looked at the effect of moderate juice consumption on blood pressure.

To reach this conclusion, data from 93 previous studies were analyzed, focusing on 12 different types of sugary foods and how these diet choices affect blood pressure.

The research, published in the famous journal PLOS ONE, revealed that moderate consumption of natural fruit juice, which contains natural sugars, caused “minor decreases” in blood pressure.

Meanwhile, drinks with added sugar, such as soda, caused average systolic blood pressure to rise by 6.9 mmHg.

Benefits of natural fruit juices

The researchers also stressed that eating whole fruits has a more beneficial effect on health, taking into account that the food contains fibre.

Experts believe that the protective effect of natural fruit juice comes from the nutrients and bioactive compounds found in the fruit.

Our research highlights the blood pressure benefit of consuming moderate amounts of 100% pure fruit juice, which contains only natural sugars, study author John Sifenpepper highlights.

As the study identified, it appears that fruit juice could be a practical and delicious way to help control blood pressure. However, it is worth noting the importance of moderation when drinking fruit juice.
