A 22-year-old man has been arrested in the act by the Civil Police of the Federal District, accused of posting photos on social media of Marilia Mendonca and Cristiano Araujo, a Brazilian singer who died in 2015, and Gabriel Diniz, a musician. who lost his life in 2019.

The Special Police Station for the Suppression of Cybercrime in the Federal District explained that the arrest is part of Operation Fenrir, which aims to identify managers of social network profiles who shared photos and videos of the dead bodies of the artists.

The images in question were illegally obtained by the suspect and published “indiscriminately on the Internet,” affecting the crime of desecration of a corpse, called “defamation of a corpse” in Brazil, which can carry a penalty of up to three years in prison and pay the fine.

It should be noted that after the recent release of Marília Mendonça’s photos, the family called on everyone to denounce and not share the content. The Brazilian singer died in November 2021 in a plane crash, she was only 26 years old.
