Sérgio Conceição has fond memories of the recent confrontations with Italian teams in European competition, in the matches held in Estádio do Dragão. Both times this happened, the FC Porto coach overcame his opponents, and the mighty Juventus was the last to suffer from the strength of the team from the city of Invicta.
That happened last season, in a match in which Taremi surprised the defense of Veccia Signora by applying intense pressure and was able to score the first goal in the first leg of the round of 16, paving the way to qualify for the next stage.
Mariga extended the count at the start of the second half, but the Torino team, where Cristiano Ronaldo was at the time, reduced the damage and scored a goal through Chiesa. In the second leg, the Dragon lost 2-3, but it is worth the fact that FC Porto scored more goals away from home.
Blue and White fans also still remember about the last confrontation against Roma, in the 2018/2019 season, in which the team coached by Sergio Conceicao lost 1-2 in the Italian capital – Adrian Lopez scored FC Porto. Goal – but at Estádio do Dragão there was an epic night, with FC Porto’s 3-1 win and the goal giving Alex Telles qualification from the 11m mark, already in overtime, and by the time the penalty area leaked.
