A BOLA - Palmeiras wins Recopa and Abel makes (even more) history (CONMEBOL)

Palmeiras, led by Abel Ferreira, beat Atletico Paranaense 2-0 this evening (after a 2-2 draw in the first leg), winning Recopa, which is the equivalent of the European Super Cup in South America.

After a lukewarm first half, no goals and few important shots, verdaw Al-Nasr reached with two goals from Ze Rafael (50th minute from a direct free kick) and Danilo Santo (88).

The fourth title for Abel Ferreira is responsible for the São Paulo team, becoming the coach with the most international titles in the club’s history (he won two Libertadores titles, in addition to the Brazilian Cup).

Since November 2020 in Palmeiras, the Portuguese coach, who was expelled after celebrating his team’s second goal, has surpassed another historical name: Luiz Felipe Scolari (won the 1998 Mercosur Cup and 99 Libertadores for Almairas at international level).
