A BOLA – Fernando Pimenta qualifies for the K1 1000m World Cup final (rowing)

Boat driver Fernando Pimenta qualified directly, Thursday, in Copenhagen, for the final of the K1 1000 meters race of the World Boating Championships, while Teresa Portela qualifies for the semi-finals of the K1200 meters.

With one place guaranteeing instant access to the medal race, Pimenta led from first to last meter, the final pressure resistance of German Martin Heller.

The bronze medalist at Tokyo 2020 completed the race in 3.38.52 minutes, beating Germany with 1.22 seconds and Denmark’s Rene Poulsen with 6.34.

With three places available for the final, Teresa Portella didn’t start well and finished fourth in the K1200, so at 13.00 (Lisbon time) this Thursday she will once again be opposed to making it to the medal race.

Maria Re and Francesca Laya were only interested in winning the K1 200, but the Portuguese crew was sixth, so at 15.25 they would also reach the semi-finals. A little earlier, they began to participate in the K2500.

Also debuting today is the K4 500, the eighth in Tokyo 2020, which is being remodeled, with Joao Ribeiro and Messias Baptista vying alongside Kevin Santos and Robin Boas, who replaces Emmanuel Silva and David Varela, who has asked to waive the competition.

In modified rowing, Alex Santos, fifth at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020, advanced directly to the final on Saturday (9.20 hours), for the third time, 52.86 seconds, 5.44 ahead of Brazilian Luis Silva, who beat Hungarian Robert Klemp. by 1.34.

Norberto Mourao, world runner-up, European champion and bronze medalist in the VL2 200 at the Paralympics, is competing this afternoon at 15.10.
