Carlos Carvalal gave an interview to Sky Sports Where he addressed the current situation of SC Braga. In a conversation with British TV, the Portuguese coach pointed out the contradiction in fact between Braga and the Big Three.
“Last season, Benfica invested 100 million euros, we spent 295 thousand euros, which are completely different levels. So we have to try to play good football and develop young players for the club in order to survive the money that is being made there. Young people are very important to us,” he explained.
Among the youngsters who stood out was Roger Fernandez, who made his main-team debut at the age of fifteen, against Sporting, in the Super Cup, and made his debut with Moinesse, in the Portugal Cup.
“One day I had a problem with my left rig Galeno, so I went to speak with the head of the academy to see if there was any alternative for the position. That’s when I was asked to look at Roger and brought him in to play a special match. Doing my analysis, to correct him, I realized he did all the work. What he wants, nothing is wrong. It’s not normal, I spoke to him and he explained that he had watched SC Braga matches and had analyzed Galeano. He concluded that doing it at the age of fifteen was something special.”
