The Municipal Health Department (SMS), through the Municipal Viral Hepatitis Program, has implemented a joint effort for rapid tests to diagnose hepatitis for people living on the streets. 26 tests have been performed, including a positive result.

Work was done at a POP (Personalized Reference Center for the Homeless).

The person infected with hepatitis C will be registered and monitored by the Municipal Programme, located at Dr. Leon Coelho Lida Health Center, where they will receive multidisciplinary care.

According to curator Thelma Nandiyara, More than 2,000 patients are monitored by the Viral Hepatitis Program.

Every registered patient has access to professional guidance and medication. This year alone, more than 800 rapid tests have been performed to diagnose hepatitis B and C,” he says.
