Up to ten new countries outside the European Economic Area, the Schengen Area and the United Kingdom are on the list of countries that can have their own travel advice for Norwegians.
As it is known, a number of countries can turn green from next Monday. New standards could make the EU’s travel map even greener than it has been in several months.
For the first time since the start of the pandemic, the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH) will also evaluate its own travel advice for certain countries outside the European Economic Area, Schengen and the United Kingdom.
– A comprehensive assessment will be carried out based on the countries included in the EU third country list on an equal footing with all countries within the EEA/Schengen and the UK, Othele Rey Harangen of the National Institute for Health and Safety (NIPH) mentioned in Email to VG last week.
It is not yet known what the travel boards will look like, or whether the countries will be green and red on a par with those of the European Union.

- Will countries go green? It is not known what FHI’s travel advice for third countries will look like, or whether these countries may turn green and red as in the European Union. The NIPH can prepare its own advice for the third countries on the list. Nor is it a given that all countries on the list get their own travel advice. In addition to assessing the infection status, the NIPH will perform a comprehensive assessment.
- When will the decision come? This week, the NIPH will assess which third countries can go green. Travel advice will be announced before Monday, July 5.
FHI is considering reopening lands and districts once every two weeks, on even weeks, and closing every week.
