Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on the 4th of June. The couple’s second child was born healthy and weighed less than eight pounds – no pictures accompanying the birth announcement.
The baby’s first name, Lilibet, is an homage to the nickname by which he is referred to as Queen Elizabeth II. The middle name honors his paternal grandmother, the late Princess Diana.
according to ReutersA few days after the baby’s birth, Prince Harry and Meghan got involved in a scuffle with the BBC, causing a threat of legal action after an article surfaced that the couple had not consulted the Queen about the chosen name.
However, Harry and Meghan said the Queen was the first member of the family they had contacted about the name. “During this conversation, he shared the hope that his daughter Lillipet will be named in her honor,” the couple’s spokesperson said. “If you had not supported them, they would not have used the name.”
Lawyers for the Dukes have already sent a letter to some media outlets, stating that the BBC article is “false and defamatory” and that the allegations should not be repeated.
Meghan and Harry announced that they were expecting a daughter in the controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey in which the former actress revealed that members of the royal family had expressed concern about how dark his son Archie was when he was born and that she had thoughts about who had had suicidal tendencies while living with the British royal family. They did not receive any psychological support despite repeated requests.
Harry and American actress Meghan Markle married at Windsor Castle in May 2018, and their son Archie was born a year later. The newborn is now eighth in the line of succession to the British throne.
