Mariana Cabral takes charge of the Sporting women's team

Mariana Cabral is the new coach of the women’s soccer team Sporting, confirmed this Wednesday the green and white club in a statement.

The 33-year-old coach’s presentation, Susana Cova’s successor in lions, was presented on Wednesday at Estádio José Alvalade.

The technical team of Mariana Cabral will include assistant coaches Beatriz Teixeira and Joao Almeida Rosa, goalkeeper coach Gonzalo Xavier, physical coach Nuno Ribeiro and analyst Joao Mateus. The club said the six new faces of the technical team “signed contracts with Tomas Moraes, Sporting’s director of football training”.

Mariana has been with Sporting since 2016, the year the women’s football project started. The technician began directing the coaching teams and then became the manager of Team B, where she remained until the end of the 2020/2021 season, accumulating the position of coaching technical coordinator.

Furthermore, the new Sporting coach also has a recent past associated with the press.

“Women’s football is here to give Sporting trophies, to constantly fight for trophies. We will try, from day one, to win football that includes members and fans and that brings more people into the stadiums. It can get more people to turn on TV to watch women’s football.” Younger players, more experienced players, Portuguese players, players from abroad. Very ambitious and competitive players, that’s what we want. Players who want to be in Sporting and show that they deserve to represent Sporting,” he told the club’s channels.

Note that the green and white band undergoes a deep remodeling process, with About ten athletes leave.
