a Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter is named after two of the most important women in the prince’s life: Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana.
This Sunday, the sixth, the couple announced the arrival of their second daughter, whom they named Lilibet Diana. The parents plan, according to international press reports, to treat her like Lily.
It should be noted that Lillipet is a tribute to Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. The king was treated this way affectionately in his childhood by family members. In fact, the Queen signed a note that she left in the coffin of her husband Prince Philip, who died in April, with exactly that name, because her companion had always treated her that way.
The nickname was also used by King George VI, father of Isabel II, who once said: “Lilipet is my pride. Margarida [irmã mais nova da rainha] My pleasure”.
As for the child’s second name – Diana, as expected, it is a tribute to Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, who tragically died in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
Out of curiosity, Harry’s brother, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have already done the same to their six-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte. Her full name is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.
It is reported that Lilibet Diana was born on Friday 4 June. The Dukes of Sussex are already parents to 2-year-old Archie.
